1.1 เลือกพาร์ทิชั่นที่ต้องการลบ และกด Delete
1.2 ถ้ายังมีพาร์ทิชั่นอื่นบนดิสก์นี้อีก ก็ให้ทำเช่นเดียวกับ 1.1
1.3 เมื่อสถานะที่ดิสก์เป็น Unallocated space แล้ว คุณสามารถเลือกที่จะติดตั้งระบบบนดิสก์นี้ได้เลยโดย Windows จะฟอร์แมตเป็น GPT ให้เอง
2. การแปลงดิสก์เป็น GPT ด้วยคำสั่ง diskpart
2.1 กด Shift + F10 เพื่อเปิดหน้าต่าง command prompt
2.2 พิมพ์คำสั่ง diskpart และกด Enter
2.3 พิมพ์คำสั่ง list disk และกด Enter เพื่อแสดงดิสก์ทั้งหมดบนเครื่องนี้
2.4 เลือกดิสก์ที่ต้องการ และพิมพ์ select disk ตามด้วยตัวเลขของดิสก์ เช่น select disk 0 และกด Enter
2.5 พิมพ์คำสั่ง clean และกด Enter เพื่อล้างข้อมูลบนดิสก์นี้
2.6 พิมพ์คำสั่ง convert gpt และกด Enter เพื่อแปลงดิสก์นี้ให้เป็น GPT
2.7 พิมพ์ exit เพื่อออกจากโปรแกรม และปิดหน้าต่าง command prompt นี้
2.8 กดปุ่ม Refresh เพื่ออัพเดตสถานะของดิสก์
2.9 ตอนนี้ คุณสามารถเลือกดิสก์นี้เพื่อติดตั้ง Windows แบบ UEFI ได้แล้ว

อีกวิธีหนึ่ง ถ้าคุณไม่ต้องการแปลงดิสก์เป็น GPT คุณสามารถเลือกที่จะบูตแบบ legacy BIOScompatibility แทน UEFI ได้ แต่ผมจะไม่ลงรายละเอียดในวิดีโอนี้

So we need to convert to GPT

Shift + f10
type: Diskpart
type: List Disk
type: Select Disk (and whatever number disk you want to change)
type: Clean
type: Convert GPT

Partition Tables
Before data can be stored on a device like a hard disk, a partition table needs to be created. This partition table defines where the data can be stored on the device. For example, if you had a 3 terabyte hard disk, you could create 2 partition tables. One partition could be 1 terabyte in size while the other could be 2 Terabytes in size. The partition table essentially determines which part of the hard disk can be used for what.

There are two different partition types available. These are MBR (Master Boot Record) and GPT (GUID Partition Table). MBR is the older style that offers more compatibility while GPT is newer and offers more features, most notably, it supports larger devices. In some cases, GPT may require particular hardware in order to run.

Master Boot Record (MBR)
MBR has been around since the first PC’s were released. For this reason it should work on all computers, meaning it has great compatibility with existing hardware. MBR is limited to 4 primary partitions. To increase the number of partitions that could be created on a single drive, one of the MBR partitions could be converted into an extended partition. This extended partition contains configuration allowing additional partitions to be created. In DOS days, there could only be 26 partitions on one hard disk: 3 primary partitions and one extended partition that contained 23 additional partitions. This was a limitation due to each drive requiring a drive letter and thus a limit of 26 letters in the alphabet. In later operating systems more than 26 partitions could be created using extended partitions. The biggest limitation of MBR is that it can only use 2 Terabytes of space. If you have a drive bigger than 2 Terabytes, MBR can be used, but any space after 2 Terabytes will not be useable and thus will be wasted.

GUID Partition Table (GPT)
The GPT partition table supports 128 primary partitions and thus does not require any extended partitions. The main advantage of the partition table is it supports drives in the Zettabyte size. 1 ZB = 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes or 10 to power of 21 bytes or 1 billion terabytes. In order to boot an operating system for a GPT partition, you require a hard disk that supports “Unified Extensible Firmware Interface” or UEFI. This was designed to be a replacement for the older system called “Basic Input/Output System” or BIOS. The operating system also needs to support booting. For Windows this means Windows XP and Windows 2003 64 bit editions or above. For Linux most distributions should support both 32bit and 64bit operating systems. It is matter of checking the distribution to ensure it does. All modern Linux distributions should support this. If the hardware or operating system does not support booting, it is possible that the operating system will still be able to read the drive as a data drive. Every Windows operating system including and after Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003 SP1 will support GPT as a data drive.

Converting between the two
If your hard disk is less than 2 terabytes, use MBR. This will offer you the most compatibility. If you do need to change between the two, most likely GPT to MBR, Windows can convert the drive; however, it will first need to have all the partitions removed thus erasing all the data on the drive. Thirdparty software is available for Windows which can convert the partition table without losing the data. Otherwise there is Linux software which can perform the conversion. Before converting the partition table, make sure that you back up all data on the drive.

Partition Tables
0:20 – Before a drive can be used by an operating system, whether it be physical or virtual, a partition table needs to be created on the drive. The partition table forms the low level data structure of the drive. This structure allows the drive to be divided up into individual partitions. If I were to have a physical drive that has a partition table created on it, the drive will contain only unused space. Before the unused space can be used, the drive needs to be divided up into one or more partitions. In this case, the drive will be divided up into 3 partitions. In many cases, it is common for a hard drive to be divided up into one large, main partition for the operating system and its data, and some smaller partitions for booting, recovery, and tools. After creation, a partition table can be formatted for the operating system to store data on. There are two partition tables that are available. These are MBR and GPT. MBR is older and this has more compatibility with older and obsolete operating systems and hardware. GPT is a newer standard and has more features but requires newer operating systems and, depending on what you are trying to achieve with it, it may also require newer hardware. To start with, I will look at MBR.

Master Boot Record (MBR)
1:38 – The MBR or Master Boot Record, was first introduced on PC’s back in 1983. Since then it has become the de facto standard for PC’s working on DOS based, Windows based, and alternative operating systems like Linux. If the MBR partition table is used, this allows the drive to be divided up into a maximum for 4 primary partitions. The operating system allows each partition to be formatted to use a file system. So with MBR, the administrator could create 4 primary partitions and format them so the operating system can see 4 drives. In most cases, this should be sufficient for most requirements. However, in some rare cases it may be necessary for more than 4 partitions. If this is the case, one of the primary partitions can be changed into an extended partition. In the DOS days, this extended partition could hold 23 partitions. This was a limitation of DOS since it could only support 26 drive letters. On modern Windows operating systems, the administrators can create as many extended partitions as they wish. However, extended partitions are linked to each other so if you use a lot of them they could have an impact on performance. Also, the BIOS in the computer may not support booting from an extended partition; however, a workaround would be to place the boot loader on a primary partition that would boot the operating system stored in the extended partition. The MBR partition table offers the fundamental features required for an operating system and offers compatibility with older operating systems and hardware. The only limitation is that it is limited to 2 Terabytes of usable space. If the administrator uses MBR on a drive larger than 2 Terabytes, all the space after Terabytes will be unavailable to the operating system and thus unusable. There is some new technology that has been developed to extend the life of MBR which I will look at later on in this video. Before this, I will have a look at MBR’s replacement, GPT.
